Marcia S. Anderson, 81, of Muzzy Drive, died Thursday, March 7, 2024, at St. John the XXIII Home in Hermitage, Pa.

She was born in Plain Grove, Pa., on April 5, 1942, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Margaret (Hilderbrandt) Saniga.

She married Mr. Leroy M. Anderson on Aug. 24, 1963, Mr. Anderson survives at home. She was a member of the former St. Peter Parish in Slippery Rock. Mrs. Anderson was the director of adult literacy in Lawrence County, retiring after more than 25 years. She was a member of many boards and organizations and also was a past president of the Laurel Area School Board. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed traveling, cross stitch and knitting, and she loved reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, John R. Anderson and his wife, Rose, of Albuquerque, N.M., Jeffry M. Anderson and his wife, Cheryl, of Springfield, Ill., and Aaron J. Anderson and his wife, Jill, of New Castle; and one granddaughter, Lydia R. Anderson.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Saniga and Donald Saniga.

ANDERSON — Visitation for Marcia S. Anderson, who died Thursday, March 7, 2024, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at WILLIAM F. & ROGER M. DECARBO FUNERAL HOME, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mary Mother of Hope Church, N. Beaver St., New Castle. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Harrisville.
