Virginia Fry
Virginia Ileen “Ginny” Claypool Fry, 80, of West Sunbury, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024.
Born on Dec. 14, 1943, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Harlan Ralston Claypool and late Wilda Della Dietrich Claypool.
Ginny was a student of the first graduating class of Butler High School. She then married and raised her family in West Sunbury, moved to Wilmington, N.C., where she lived for 20 years, and had recently moved back to West Sunbury.
Ginny possessed a strong work ethic and determination. After driving a school bus for 22 years for the Moniteau School District, she wanted to drive a tractor-trailer, and so she did — driving over-the-road for 15 years. She had a vision to own a business, so she transformed a section of her property into rental properties. She loved spending time on the water, so she obtained her captain's license. She loved to travel and took every opportunity to travel with family and friends or just set off on her own to visit a friend or relative in another state.
Ginny also had creative talents. She learned how to decorate beautiful cakes for all occasions and crocheted blankets for her children and grandchildren. Ginny could craft a pie crust like a pro!
Ginny is survived by three daughters, Lou Ann Fry (Wayne Best) of Rimersburg, Linda (John) Godfrey of Belgrade, Mont., and Martha (John) Walton of Baden; six grandchildren, Krystle Fry (Jim Marschall), Cory (Madison) Godfrey, Katie Godfrey, Ian Godfrey, Briana (Brian) Rose and Kayla Walton; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Luke Godfrey. She is also survived by four sisters, Carol (Larry) VanderHeyden of Poinciana, Fla., Thelma (Jack) Unangst of Sun City West, Ariz., Berta (Tom) Case of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Wilma (David) Mann of Hopkinsville, Ky.; two brothers, Ed (Retha) Claypool of Columbus, Ind., and Larry (Cathy) Claypool of Glenwood, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
