SV grad McNany gets AMCC honor

ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend junior infielder Jocelyn McNany has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week.

McNany collected four hits and six RBI in a pair of wins for the Lions, including a double, triple and home run.

Davis staying hot in spring training

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Henry Davis homered for the third consecutive game Monday as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated Tampa Bay, 7-3, in Grapefruit League play.

Davis is the only major league player to homer in three straight games during spring training so far this year.

Jack Suwinski also homered for the Bucs and Paul Skenes allowed one run in two innings, throwing 25 of his 32 pitches for strikes. The Pirates host Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday in Bradenton.

Stevenson, Kiggins contribute to win

ALFRED, N.Y. — Butler graduate Tori Stevenson scored a pair of goals Monday in Grove City College’s 17-10 women’s lacrosse win at Alfred.

Stevenson secured six draw controls as well. Seneca Valley graduate Eylse Kiggins picked up a team-leading five ground balls in goal.

Cubs boxers pick up wins at Golden Gloves tournament

WEXFORD — Butler Cubs boxers Evan Lyle and Darren Hildebrand both notched victories by unanimous decision in Golden Gloves tournament bouts at North Way Church this past weekend. Lyle defeated Boyce AC’s Garnett Moitia, while Hildebrand downed Pittsburgh G-Force’s Dragun Radusewicz.
