Durand

Robert E. Durand, 86, of Saxonburg, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his home. He was truly loved by his family.

Born March 30, 1937 in Johnstown, he was the son of John W. Durand and Stella Bowser Durand.

Bob was a former member of Millerstown Methodist Church.

Bob served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1955 to 1963. He had worked as a millwright at the U.S. Steel sintering plant in Saxonburg for 27 years, until its closing. He then worked as a carpenter for Fire Pro Restoration for 25 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, woodworking and he was a big fan of the Freeport Yellowjackets.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne M. Durand, whom he married in 1975; his children, Robert A. (Pat) Durand of Mandeville, La., Troy A. (Carol) Durand of Sarver, Todd W. (Mindy) Durand of Sarver, Douglas M. (Cory) Kamer of Saxonburg and Lynette L. Durand of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Carl Durand of New Kensington; nine grandchildren, Chris, Pam, Nathan, Kyle, Casey, Danika, Kiana, Jordon and Andersen; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley May Durand; four brothers, Tom, Roy, Andy and Glenn Durand; three sisters, Marie, Garnett and Vera; and one grandson, Derek J. Durand.

DURAND — There will be no visitation or services for Robert E. Durand, who died Sunday, March 3, 2024.
