William Criley

Criley

William J. “Bill” Criley, 72, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024.

He was born in Natrona Heights on Jan. 14, 1952, and was the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Lang) Criley.

Bill served his country honorably in the Army Reserves for 18 years and worked as brick mason for more than 50 years.

Bill loved music and was a lead guitarist and played the bass in several bands such as The New Era, Mixed Emotions, Wild & Blue and The Hellacious Crileys. He was an active member of the Lions Club and won the Lion of the Year award in 2023. He also enjoyed rock tumbling in his spare time. Bill was known as hardworking and giving, and for being a good friend and, most of all, a great husband, father and grandfather.

Bill was the beloved husband of Cindy (Whitling) Criley since their marriage in 1983; father of Jeremy (Julie) Criley, Selena Criley, Bill (April Hileman) Criley III and Shawn Criley; brother of Ron (Roberta) Criley and Lorrie (John) Davellia; and grandfather of Molly, Sidney, Becky, Steven, Lycia, Harrison, Draven, Shawn, Rylan and Makenna.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jason Criley.

CRILEY — Family and friends of William J. “Bill” Criley, who died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately at the Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Club in Bill's name.
