Velma M. Boltz, 97, of Cabot passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Winfield Township.

Velma was born on March 13, 1926, in Jefferson Township, and was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Datt) Schmidt. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1944 and married Carl Boltz on June 21, 1947. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, teaching and helping in many areas. Her last projects were helping make quilts and knitting prayer shawls with the sewing group.

She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace in the presence of the Lord. She liked sewing, knitting, needlepoint and quilting. She also liked the great outdoors, was an accomplished gardener, and loved working with her flowers and shrubs.

Velma leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, Ronald (Amy) Boltz of Cabot and Dennis (Hope) Boltz of Butler; five grandchildren, Lori Serenda and Rebecca Joung of Abingdon, Md., Amy Turner of Newport News, Va., Steven Boltz of Cabot and Rachel Boltz of Cabot; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Erla Miller of Ridge, N.Y.; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Boltz on Oct. 28, 2006; three brothers, Kenny, Harry and Lyle Schmidt; and sisters, Marian Boltz and Elizabeth McCormick.

BOLTZ — Friends of Velma M. Boltz, who died Saturday, March 2, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Galica officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Centennial Hall after the graveside service.
