Mercer man accused of 2 burglaries

A Mercer County man accused of breaking into a cabin in Venango Township allegedly gained access to a garage in Marion Township a day before, according to charges filed by state police.

Legend T. Barlow, 32, was charged Monday, Feb. 26, with felony criminal trespass and driving under a suspended license after police responded to a residence in Marion Township for a reported break in Feb. 18.

The new charges were filed days after Barlow was accused of gaining access to a Venango Township cabin without the owner’s permission. He was charged with felonies criminal trespass and drug sales, misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and summary driving with a suspended license in connection to that incident.

Around 3:45 p.m. Feb. 19, police said they responded to a Marion Township residence after a homeowner reported having footage of a man kicking in the door of his garage the day before.

Police said the unknown man was wearing a gray hoodie with red and yellow lettering and boots. Documents showed officers also observed smudge marks on items in the garage and gas from multiple all-terrain vehicles had been taken.

While police investigated the Marion Township break-in, other officers took Barlow into custody in Venango Township. Police said he removed the front door lock on a cabin that was not his, and reportedly stayed there several days.

During a search of the cabin, police said a suspected methamphetamine pipe and 126 grams of suspected marijuana were found in Barlow’s possession.

Barlow was taken into custody at the cabin Feb. 19, and police said he was wearing boots similar to the burglar reported in Marion Township.

Police also searched Barlow’s silver Nissan, and said they discovered the clothing items worn by the burglar during the Marion Township break-in.

Barlow’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled March 26. He remains in Butler County Prison.
