Wilda Greenawalt
Wilda L. “Tillie” Greenawalt, 85, of Chicora, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 23, 2024, at the home of her daughter near Harrisville.
Wilda was born in Kaylor on Jan. 26, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Gerald “Jake” and Margaret (Wiles) Groves.
Wilda was a 1957 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School. Wilda is survived by her husband, Fred Greenawalt, whom she married at St. Paul Church in Sugarcreek Township, on June 27, 1959.
She was a longtime member of Chicora United Methodist Church, where she had served as treasurer, was active in the Cheerful Workers and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved to make scrapbooks of family pictures and collect cardinals; she had a collection of more than 500 cardinals.
In addition to her husband, Wilda is survived by her children, Dale Greenawalt and his wife, Rina, of Renfrew, Mark Greenawalt and his wife, Lisa, and Linda McCord and her husband, Lee, all of Harrisville; her sister, Rita (Groves) Walborn of Oroville, Calif.; her brothers, Gary Groves and his wife, Carol, of Chicora and Lloyd Groves and his wife, Sally, of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Lorrie Greenawalt of Nevada, Shirley and Clifford Oesterling of Butler, Beverly and Bill Olenic of Meridian, Larry and Merry Wagner of Florida, Janet McDonald of Zelienople, and Debbie Wagner of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Wilda was preceded in death by a sister, Margretta (Groves) Chrise; as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
GREENAWALT — Friends of Wilda L. “Tillie” Greenawalt, who died Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Beverly Roscoe, pastor of the Chicora United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.
