SRU men’s hoops wins in overtime
CLARION — Luke Howes sank a game-tying layup with 0.2 seconds left in regulation and Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team went on to post a 97-94 overtime win at Clarion on Wednesday night.
The win gave he Rock (13-12, 11-8) a two-game lead over Seton Hill and Mercyhurst for fourth place in the PSAC West with three games left in the regular season. Lashon Lindsey led SRU with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Jomo Goings added 26 points and seven boards.
Clarion slipped to 7-19 overall, 5-15 in PSAC play. SRU retuns to action as part of a women’s-men’s doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at Morrow Field House.
Butler grad shines for Thiel volleyball
GREENVILLE — Butler graduate Kaleb Proudfoot tallied nine kills and four blocks Wednesday night as the Thiel men’s volleyball team defeated Penn State Behrend, 3-1.
The victory marked the Tomcats’ first triumph over the Lions since 2019.
