Mercer man accused of breaking into Venango Township cabin

A Mercer County man was accused of breaking into a cabin in Venango Township, according to charges filed by state police Monday, Feb. 19.

Legend T. Barlow, 32, of Mercer, was charged with felonies criminal trespass and drug sales, misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and summary driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an unknown white vehicle was reportedly parked behind a cabin on Campbell Road when the owner indicated no one had permission to be there.

Police said Barlow was at the cabin when they arrived. According to documents, Barlow had removed the front door lock on the cabin to gain access.

Documents showed Barlow disclosed he had permission from another man, who was not the owner, to be at the cabin. That man told police he had not spoken to Barlow in over a year, and he had not given him permission to stay at the cabin.

During a search of the residence, police said a suspected methamphetamine pipe and 126 grams of suspected marijuana were found to be in Barlow’s possession.

Barlow was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled Feb. 27.
