Butler boys claim W.Pa. indoor track and field title
Landon Lacey won the 400 meters and the Golden Tornado won a pair of relay events on Saturday as the Butler boys captured the Tri-State Track Coaches Association Indoor Track and Field championship at Edinboro.
Butler tallied 54.5 team points to beat out second-place North Allegheny’s 46. Mt. Lebanon had 43 points.
The Tornado girls finished in seventh place with 33.5 points. North Allegheny finished first with 92 points.

Slippery Rock — The Rockets sent a contingent of athletes to a meet at Youngstown State University and broke four school records.
Eli Anderson placed second in the boys 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.24 seconds, qualifying him for the state meet. Dustin Joyce placed third in the triple jump with a school-record distance of 43 feet, 5 inches, qualifying him for the state meet. He also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 20-0.5.
Sarah Montgomery placed sixth in the girls triple jump with a distance of 31-9.5.
Tyler Arblaster broke his school record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.11 and freshman Kasey Yeager broke the indoor school record in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5 minutes, 49.12 seconds.
Boys Basketball
Josh Book scored seven points as Slippery Rock dropped a 42-19 decision at Grove City over the weekend.
Nathan Greer and Brett Loughery scored 13 points each for Grove City, which built a 33-15 lead through three quarters.
Swimming
Reagan Connelly won the 100 backstroke and took second in the 50 freestyle for Mars at the MAC Championships over the weekend. Bryn Wilson took second in the 200 free and Emily Mueller was second in diving with a score of 382.90.

Knoch advanced three wrestlers to the WPIAL 2A Tournament via performances in the Eastern Section meet.
Parker Anderson finished second in his weight class while Owen Layhew placed fourth at 145 pounds and Jarrett Crowe sixth at 121.
