Kathryn Best
Kathryn A. Best, 74, of Butler, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 13, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Butler, a daughter of the late Walter Schnitski and Josephine (Horvatic) Schnitski.
Kathryn retired from the Butler VA Medical Center. She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Kathryn was an inspiring soul, always there for all who came to her. Her home was open to everyone, and her hospitality made them feel important. Kathryn loved to cook and bake and enjoyed all holiday gatherings. She was a compassionate, family-oriented woman and one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet.
She is survived by her companion, Donald Green; her daughter, KellyJo (Denny) Altmire; one stepdaughter, Rita Matis; grandchildren, Thomas Hayden, Evan (Ashleigh) Hayden, Emily Hayden, Jared (Erin) Matis, Katelyn Burkert and Jenna (Andrew) Swindlehurst; great-grandchildren, Nora, Clayton, Elora, Elias, Trey and Macey; and her sister, Donna Schnitski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson J. Best, and her sister, Sandra Flack.
BEST — A Mass of Christian burial for Kathryn A. Best, who died Tuesday evening, Feb. 13, 2024, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Interment to follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
