Miller Minutes

Miller Minutes with Butler Eagle reporter, Molly Miller

Wednesday was Valentine’s Day, so if you were wondering why your significant other was mad at you for forgetting something … you’re welcome.

In all seriousness, the season of love can be stressful for some. If you struggle to give “the perfect gift” or are allergic to flowers, I could see why.

What’s wonderful about the modern world is the abundance of research about the best ways to show someone you love them, or at least appreciate them. Sociologists have also discovered the ways we are wired to give and receive love can be totally different, and rightly so.

The important thing to remember is if you like getting gifts but your partner likes when you offer to mop the floor, your mission is clear. Similarly, if you enjoy flowers but your partner likes going to the symphony … fill in the blank.

No matter what your love language is, knowing the person you’re trying to impress is sure to score you major points. If you missed having a date this week, it’s not too late to ask your crush out on the town. There are places to go and things to see this weekend. Check them out here!

Join staff of Moraine State Park on a guided Winter Tree Walk on Friday, Feb. 16. The trail is an easy mile, but dress for the weather and meet at 1 p.m. near the Five Points Organized Campground near the North Shore.

Butler Little Theatre premieres the play “Constellations” at 8 p.m. Friday. Experience the unlikely and unconventional love story of a beekeeper and a physicist for the price of a $15 ticket. Shows continue throughout the weekend. For more information, visit butlerlittletheatre.com.

Tickets for Hobnob Theatre Company’s next improv night on March 1 will be available starting Friday. Visit hobnobtheatre.com/events.

Auditions for the Butler Little Theatre’s next show, “Other Desert Cities,” take place at the theater on Howard Street at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Lines for audition are available by contacting Kyrie Lokhaiser at kyl22@pitt.edu.

Sign up for the annual Cherry Pie Hike scheduled for Feb. 24 at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Brady Township. The nine guided hikes have limited space, so secure tickets at events.dcnr.pa.gov.
