Katherine H. “Kate” Tirk, 95, of Grove City, passed away at Orchard Manor, on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, following an extended illness.

Kate was born in Pittsburgh on April 15, 1928, to Nickola Luke and Amelia Zaborski Luke.

She worked in the custodial department at Slippery Rock University and enjoyed many friendships within the university community. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, working with flowers and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley A. and husband, Larry Osburn, of Harrisville; sister, Virginia Vegas of Grove City; granddaughter, Tammy L. Brinker (Rolland), and grandson, Brian N. Osburn (Audra), all of Zelienople; and two great-grandchildren, Emma Kate and Joseph.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Orchard Manor and for the compassionate care received from AHN Hospice staff.

TIRK — Per her wishes, there will be no visitation for Katherine H. “Kate” Tirk, who died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.

The family will observe a public memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Forestville United Methodist Church, 124 Boyers Road, Forestville, led by Pastor Ken Miller.

Arrangements are by SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
