Volunteers needed for trail cleanup
Those who appreciate the Butler-Freeport Community Trail can help with a cleanup planned for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Laneville parking lot No. 2, 100 Main St., Freeport.
Volunteers will trim and cut back trees to extend the trail south from the parking lot.
Bringing a chain saw, hand saw or pruners will be appreciated. Plenty of work will be available for everyone, including those who do not bring tools.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and bring water, safety glasses and gloves. In the event of severe weather, the cleanup will be rescheduled.
Trail members also are reminded of the trail association’s quarterly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Buffalo Creek Nature Park, 154 Monroe Road, Sarver.
Those who use the trail are reminded that the stretch from Monroe Road to Bear Creek remains closed for routine maintenance and bridge deck repair.
