Butler indoor track scores 4 wins in Youngstown
Butler’s 4x200 meter indoor relay team of Chris Rubcic, Landon Lacey, Aaron Stebick and David Graef won that event during a meet Saturday at Youngstown State University.
The foursome had a time of 1 minute, 30.89 seconds, second fastest time in the state so far this year and the second fastest time in school history.
Other winners for the Golden Tornado were Lacey in the 400 meters, Orein McBride-Cager in the high jump and the 4x400 relay team of Griffin Bauer, Rubcic, Jacob Fallecker and Stebick.
Drew Griffith returned to the track for Butler, taking third in the 800 meters.

Slippery Rock — Tyler Arblaster set a pair of school records for the Rockets at the Youngstown State meet. He finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 50.96 seconds. He reset his own 60 meters school mark by running the event 7.29 seconds. He finished third there as well.
The Rockets’ Eli Anderson took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68 seconds.
On the girls side, Ashley Ragan set a school record in the 800 meters at 2:29.78 and Leah Perez did so in the 1,600 meters at 5:50.01. SR’s 4x800 relay of Ragan, Becca Springirth, Perez and Kasey Yaeger took seventh at the meet in 10:46.03.
Vita Vargo scored 18 points, but Mars dropped a 63-42 decision to Lincoln Park. The Planets trailed by 11 points at halftime.
Cecilia Christy scored 13 points for Mars. J’La Kizart netted 23, Maddie Syka and Sarah Scott 16 each for Lincoln Park.
Butler went 3-2 at the 16-team Clearfield Duals, defeating Kane (66-12), Curwensville (45-30) and DuBois (49-25). Losses came against Miffflin County (49-18) and Brockway (36-36, tiebreaker).
Golden Tornado sophomore Santino Sloboda improved to 27-0 on the season by winning all five of his matches at 114 or 121 pounds. Sullivan Stutz, also wrestling at 114 or 121, went 4-1. Kase Chopp at 139, Gavin Rush at 145 and heavyweight Diamond Cantera were also 4-1.
Finishing 3-2 for Butler were Leo Iarrapino at 133, Dawson Davis at 160 and Luke Zanaglio at 215. The Tornado host Pine-Richland at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
