Jan. 6, 2021: Never again

As I write this, it is the third anniversary of Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow the democratically-elected government of the United States. Since that time, we have learned Trump was repeatedly told by his closest advisers that claims the election was stolen were false, but in spite of this he continued to lie to his supporters throughout the country (and repeats these lies to this day).

We know that the Republican congressmen ran for their lives from the mob, but when they came back to the Capitol, the majority of them voted to overturn the election. The few who had the courage to speak out were either kicked out of the party or quickly changed their tune and went to Mar-a-Lago to grovel for forgiveness. Many of the Republicans even refused to give commendations to the police officers who fought to save their lives that day.

Now Donald Trump is the leading presidential candidate for the Republican Party, hoping that the voters won’t remember what happened on Jan. 6, 2021. It is the duty of all Americans who love their democracy to remember that day, and to say “never again.”

Sincerely,

Ron Lalonde, Harmony
