Cousins

Eugene Cousins, 91, of Renfrew, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, in the comfort of his home.

He was born May 13, 1932, in Butler, a son of the late Charles Cousins and Helen (Blasko) Cousins.

He had worked at the Pullman Standard Car Company until the plant closed, also Trinity Industries and had taken over operating the family business, Cousins Sanitation. He enjoyed backhoe work and installing and servicing septic systems. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in the Korean War.

Surviving are his children, Cheryle Monsour, Tom (Maureen) Cousins, Beverly (Dan) McGee, Shelly (Art) Balleu, Patty (Jim) Tincha and Jeff Cousins; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida (Dietrich) Cousins, who passed away Oct. 11, 1988; one daughter, Pam Smith; a grandson, Tony Cousins; a son-in-law, Raymond “Buck” Monsour; one sister; and three brothers.

COUSINS — Friends of Eugene Cousins, who died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, Pastor David Janz to officiate. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
