More than 500 without power in Butler County on Wednesday

More than 500 homes were without power throughout Butler County on Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, according to FirstEnergy.

Just over 300 customers in Buffalo Township experienced outages due to severe weather, according to FirstEnergy’s outage website. In Adams Township, 233 homes experienced outages.

Forward Township reported 14 outages Wednesday morning, with Mars right behind at 11. Outages were also reported throughout Winfield, Washington, Summit, Venango, Fairview and Slippery Rock Townships and Petrolia.

According to Will Boye, senior communications representative for FirstEnergy, nearly 37,000 West Penn Power customers throughout the state were without power due to the storm Tuesday.

Boye said Wednesday that 381 customers in Butler County were out of power Tuesday afternoon. Of that total, 328 were West Penn Power customers and 53 were Penn Power customers.

The gusty winds took down power lines countywide. According to Butler County 911 dispatchers, crews responded to 13 reports of downed lines in the Tuesday afternoon and evening.

By Wednesday afternoon, only 10 customers throughout Fairview, Forward, Venango and Washington townships and Petrolia were experiencing outages.
