Joanne Santus

Santus

God took home to Him a true Christian soul on Jan. 4, 2024. Joanne M. Santus was born on March 4, 1954, in Butler, to the late Stephen and Wanda Santus.

Joanne was an alumnus of Butler High School, New Castle Business College and Slippery Rock University. She worked as a secretary in the health sciences department at SRU for 36 years, before retiring in 2011.

She was an active member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, where she performed different functions over the years including being a regular member of the sewing group.

Joanne was an avid crocheter and crocheted caps for the ministry Caps for Kids for the past 20 years. She assumed leadership in 2015, and each year she coordinated many others who made caps. She collected and sorted the caps, then distributed them throughout the local area.

As an accomplished violinist, Joanne was a founding member of the nonprofit ACTS (Adoring Christ Thru Song). She served on the board of directors and was secretary for the past six years.

She survived by brothers, Stephen (Roberta) Santus, Vincent (Elaine) Santus and David (Norine) Santus; a sister, Mary (Wayne) Harrison and a sister not by blood but by true friendship, LaDonna Linamen; as well as nieces and nephews.
