McElroy

Robert S. “Bob” McElroy, 62, of Fombell, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

Born in Pittsburgh, on May 9, 1961, he was the son of the late William Archie and Emma Louise Dowler McElroy.

Bob was a 1979 graduate of North Allegheny High School.

He was an account manager in Butler County for Cleveland Brothers Equipment, a Caterpillar dealer in Cranberry Township, where he worked for 23 years. Bob loved his job and his customers.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Lawrence County Sportsmen’s Association. An avid skier, Bob and his wife enjoyed traveling out West on ski trips. He loved to golf and especially enjoyed tending to his property.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary B. Markovitch McElroy, whom he married on March 14, 1992; his sister, Lynn Humphreys (Dan) of Adams Township; his brother, William McElroy (Tammy) of Middlesex Township; two nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; his father-in-law, Joseph Markovitch of Clearfield; his sister-in-law, Shirley Gorwick (Larry) of Ocean City, Md.; and his brother-in-law, David Markovitch of Tarentum.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Cathy McElroy, and his mother-in-law, Charlotte Markovitch.

MCELROY — Friends of Robert S. “Bob” McElroy, who died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating.
