Freeport bowlers sweep Kiski

Kylie McConahy rolled a single game of 270 and Mackensie Livingston a 743 series as Freeport’s girls bowling team swept Kiski Area, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon.

Livingston had a single of 265 and Hannah Windows a 262 for the Yellowjackets.

Colin Cummings had a game of 203 and a series of 524 for Freeport’s boys, which also swept the Cavaliers.

Butler 5, New Castle 2; Butler 7, New Castle 0 (girls) — At Family Bowlaway, the Golden Tornado boys (4-2) received a game of 278 and series of 694 from Greg Wilbert.

Micah Potts (210/580) and Colin Dorcy (208/564) also had solid efforts for Butler.

The Tornado girls improved to 6-0 behind a 234 game and 635 series from Kelsee McConnell.

Makenzie Zimmerman added a 591 series and game of 245.

Girls Basketball

Moniteau paid the price for a 1-of-8 effort from the free throw line in the fourth quarter of a 39-36 loss to Redbank Valley.

Catherine Kelly’s basket late in the fourth quarter tied the score at 36. Addy Bond, who paced the Bulldogs (8-2) with 24 points, drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The defeat broke a string of eight consecutive wins for Moniteau (10-2).

Kendall Sankey posted 11 points and 20 rebounds for the Warriors. Catherine Kelly scored 12 points and Allie Pry 10.
