Slippery Rock fundraiser raffling Italian vacation; parks member appointed

Residents can try their luck at winning a four-person, seven-night stay in Tuscany, with proceeds benefiting programming and infrastructure at the Slippery Rock Park.

Raffle tickets are on sale for $20 at the parks and recreation office, 320 N. Main St. Only 300 tickets will be sold, according to the parks and recreation department.

The winner will have one year to book the trip to Italy, and two years to travel. The package includes wine tasting and a private walking tour of Cortona. The winner will be responsible for covering the cost of airfare.

“Not only is it a good way to go ahead and raise money for the park, but it could also potentially provide a vacation to a community member in the surrounding areas that they might not have otherwise had,” said Denton Zeronas, director of the parks and recreation department, earlier this month.

The raffle drawing will take place Jan. 26, he said.

The announcement comes as Christian Laskey, borough manager, stepped down from the parks and recreation department. Local resident Daniel Straite was appointed to a two-year seat on the board last week.
