Police reports

The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts.

Butler Township

Dec. 20 — Donald Slater, 42, and Taylor Davidson, 29, both of Butler, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness after they appeared to be under the influence of suspected heroin when officers responded to the Walmart parking lot for a report of two people unconscious in a vehicle, police said.

Dec. 20 — A pickup truck driven by William Slagle, 85, of Butler, was merging onto Route 422 east from Moraine Pointe Plaza when it slid on the icy road and struck a vehicle driven by Stephen Wilson, 67, of Altoona and injured his passenger Nancy Lehman, 64, of New Castle, police said. Lehman was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Dec. 19 — A pickup truck driven by Grace Schantz, 18, of Lyndora, was involved in a crash with a car driven by Sarah McCauley, 26, of Lyndora, at the intersection of South Duffy and Whitestown roads.

Dec. 24 — Timothy Eric Hortert, 63, of Butler, was charged with strangulation, simple assault and two counts of harassment after he allegedly struck his son Louis Hortert in the face with the buttstock of an unloaded shotgun during a confrontation in their home on Saxonburg Road in Summit Township. Police said he also grabbed his son by the neck causing scratches and scratched his girlfriend’s arm.

Dec. 24 — Cole William Wano, 25, of Bradenville, Westmoreland County, was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and simple assault and other charges after he allegedly punched his girlfriend multiple times in the head and neck area at her Center Township home after taking the keys to her car and trying to leave with the car, police said. Wano resisted when police tried to take him into custody, and a trooper injured his hand and ripped his pants while arresting him, police said. He is being held in the county prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.
