Donald Wunnenberg
Donald A. Wunnenberg was called to his heavenly home on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023.
Born Dec. 29, 1927, in Overland, Mo., he was the son of the late John and Bertha (Hecht) Wunnenberg.
He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and later in the Army Reserve. He received a degree in mechanical engineering at Missouri School of Mines (Missouri S&T). He worked as a sales engineer for various companies over the years, selling rubber mechanical products. He served in many roles in the Lutheran Church and schools throughout his life. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, water skiing, gardening and volunteering at Passavant Community.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Betty (Gnuse) Wunnenberg; his daughters, Janet Hesse and Linda Rodenbeck and her husband, Scott; his son, Doug Wunnenberg and his wife, Kim (Corrigan); his grandchildren, Jonathan Hesse, Stephanie and her husband, Luke Kellogg, Christopher Hesse and his wife, Caroline, Andrew, Emily and Daniel Rodenbeck, Brandon Palermo and his wife, Kelly, and Gina Citrone and her husband, Beau; his three great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in his death by his son, David; his grandsons, Joshua and Joel; his brother, Edward; and his son-in-law, Dale.
WUNNENBERG — A memorial service for Donald A. Wunnenberg, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople.
Don will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, with full military honors.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
