Police: 2 arrested after drugs found in Butler Township home
Police say they found a room dedicated to packaging illegal drugs during the search of a Butler Township home Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Two men are accused of dealing drugs after suspected crack cocaine, ecstasy and several weapons also were found in the home.
Rayshawn S. West, 18, of Butler, and Justin S. Thompson, 26, of Duquesne, were arrested following the search of a home on Bessemer Avenue by the Butler County Drug Task Force, Juvenile Probation and Butler Township police.
Thompson was charged with felonies drug sales and possession of a prohibited firearm and misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia.
West was under probation supervision, according to charging documents, and was charged with felony drug sales and two counts of misdemeanor drug possession.
Both men were placed in Butler County Prison, Thompson in lieu of $75,000 bail and West in lieu of $25,000 bail.
According to documents, juvenile probation officers were conducting a home check on West when drugs and paraphernalia were found in his bedroom.
Police said 12.2 grams of individually wrapped chunks of suspected crack cocaine, 4.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a digital scale, a .22 caliber long rifle, ammunition magazine and ammunition were found. Two cellphones and $40 in cash were also found on West, according to officers.
A search of West’s closet turned up a red plate with loose chunks of suspected crack cocaine and a total of $275 in cash, documents showed.
Police said Thompson was found in the living room of the residence and searched. Documents showed he was found with $763 in cash and 3.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine in his sock.
Additional police personnel were requested to conduct a full search of the home, according to documents. An entire room was found to be dedicated to packaging drugs, police said, and contained a safe, new plastic sandwich bags, new stamp bags, a razor blade, gloves and a mask.
Police said a search of the living room yielded suspected ecstasy pills, 20.83 grams of crack cocaine, a 9 mm firearm and a .40 caliber firearm.
In a room between the kitchen and living room, police said they found a box of .22 caliber ammunition, new sandwich bags and stamp bags.
In total, more than two and a half ounces of crack cocaine, 45 ecstasy pills and $1,075 in cash were seized from the residence, documents showed.
