Union beats Forest Area, 66-30

Behind Gage Jordan’s 26-point showing, Union’s boys hoops team blew by Forest Area at home Thursday night, winning 66-30. Owen Bish and Trey Fleming both added 11 points in the commanding victory, in which the Knights only needed to sink one trey.

Girls Basketball

Alayna Rocco scored a team-high 18 points for the North Catholic as it beat Highlands, 44-24, Thursday night. The Trojanettes held the Golden Rams to just nine points in the second half.

Swimming

Mollie Massella (200-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly), Tessa Syzmanski (200-yard IM), Raely FaJohn (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke), Season Grant (100-yard freestyle), Kendall Krenn (500-yard freestyle), and Avery Grossman (100-yard breaststroke) helped Slippery Rock sweep the individual events as the Rockets’ girls beat Franklin, 125-38, Thursday night.

The 200-yard medley relay (Elise Cagle, Kaitlyn Parson, Symanski, Grossman), 200-yard freestyle relay (Maddy Gauselmann, Massella, Grant, FaJohn), and 400-yard freestyle relay (Massella, Gauselmann, Grant, FaJohn) teams also finished first.

On the boys’ side, Cody Hartle’s win in the 500-yard freestyle was the Rockets’ only first-place finish. His team dropped a 110-35 decision.
