SV girls trap Foxes

Natalie Hambly’s 19 points led a quartet of Seneca Valley players scoring in double figures as the Raiders defeated visiting Fox Chapel 70-61 in girls basketball action on Thursday.

Allison Sevin and Makayla Canty both added 15 points and Emerson Peffer chipped in with 13.

A 14-2 advantage in the third quarter sparked the Raiders.

Knoch 45, Hampton 38 — Naturelle Ewing (15 points) and Adah Fuller (14) were key as the Knights (2-2) downed the Talbots.

Knoch went 5-for-8 from the foul line late to stave off Hampton.

Mars 54, Franklin Regional 47 — Four players poured in double-digits for the Planets (3-1) Thursday night as they rebounded from a home loss to Knoch earlier this week. Cecelia Christy led the charge with 13 points, while Carmella McDole added 12, Vita Vargo 11, and Alexis Cashdollar 10.

The win was Mars’ first at home this go-round. They’ll hit the road to face Blackhawk next week.

Karns City 55, Keystone 15 — The Gremlins held their visitors under 10 points — including a scoreless second frame — in the first half of this Thursday night victory. Karns City was paced in scoring by Naomi Venesky’s 16 points.

Butler swept Seneca Valley, 7-0, Wednesday at Family Bowlaway. The Golden Tornado girls (3-0) were led by Makenzie Zimmerman with a 645 series and a high game of 225. Kelsee McConnell added a 621 series and matched Zimmerman’s high game.

Greg Wilbert paced Butler’s boys by rolling a 610 series and a high game of 224. Micah Potts added a 569 series. David Shever had a 565 series and led all bowlers with a high game of 234. Seneca Valley’s Chance Evans rolled a 571 series with a high game of 204.

The Golden Tornado improved to 2-1, while the Raiders dropped to 0-3.
