Gertrude H. (Lochner) Kampmeyer, 89, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, in The Village at Luther Ridge. Born Sept. 28, 1934, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Hedwig (Pyka) Lochner.

She lived her early life in the Butler County area. Gertrude was a graduate of Zelienople High School, with the Class of 1952. In her younger years, she worked as a secretary for Alcoa in Pittsburgh. She was employed with the Area Office on Aging for both Carbon and Franklin counties, serving in various positions throughout her career. At the age of 53, she earned her bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pa.

Gertrude volunteered with the Girl Scouts and 4-H. Throughout her life she was involved in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in the various communities where Charles served as a pastor. They retired and made their home in Chambersburg, where First Evangelical Lutheran Church held a special place for both. They relocated to The Village at Luther Ridge campus of Spiritrust Lutheran in Chambersburg, enjoying their neighbors and participating in many activities including Lifelong Learning, gourmet cooking, craft workshops, exercise classes and even rock climbing. Following retirement, Gertrude and Charles traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. She especially enjoyed Edisto Beach, S.C., and the New England states.

Gertrude is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles W. Kampmeyer, whom she married Sept. 7, 1957; three daughters, Ruth A. Cramer of Chambersburg, Ann L. Kampmeyer and Mary B. Kampmeyer of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; her brother, Fred Lochner of Harmony; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Sally Kampmeyer of Springfield, Pa.; and her nieces and nephews, Rebecca Jordan, Elizabeth Felser, Andrew Jordan, Karen Kampmeyer-Mannix and John Kampmeyer Jr. and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Jordan; her nephew, Michael Jordan; and her son-in-law, Donald Cramer.

KAMPMEYER — A memorial service for Gertrude H. (Lochner) Kampmeyer, who died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg, Pa., with the Rev. Jane Nicholson officiating.

Arrangements are by THOMAS L. GEISEL FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, Chambersburg.
