Alice Fontaine

Alice M. Fontaine, 87, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023.

Born March 23, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Anna Hockenberry Young of Chicora.

She was Catholic and worked at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in nursing for 18½ years before retiring in 1997.

Alice always made sure to take time to hand write personal holiday cards, thank you cards and notes for all occasions to her family and friends. Her hobbies were working in her yard, growing beautiful flowers and shrubs. Alice enjoyed all the birds that came to her yard; her favorite was the hummingbirds. She and her husband together enjoyed camping, cookouts, fishing and being with other campers.

Her children, grandchildren, family and close friends were very important to her.

She is survived by two sons, Paul D. Moore of Butler and Ed Moore of Alexandria, Va.; one daughter, Mary E. Moore-Cousins of Beaver Falls; three grandsons, Alex, Josh and Nick; three granddaughters, Kasey, Hailey and Julie; three brothers, James, Thomas and Roger; one sister, Helen Raabe of Butler; and a great number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Fontaine Jr.; one son, James Joseph Moore “Jimmy Joe”; one brother, Ed Young; six sisters, Gertrude Landgraf, Louise O’Donnell, Ruth Kelly, Caroline Delair, Rose Miller and Jenny Blaha; and one grandson, JJ Moore.

FONTAINE — Family and friends of Alice M. Fontaine, who died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, will received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Eugene Weo, military chaplain, to officiate.

Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
