Butler Memorial Hospital gets an ‘A’ for safety
Butler Memorial Hospital received official national recognition for high patient safety standards from health watchdog organization The Leapfrog Group, who awarded BMH an “A” grade in its fall 2023 Hospital Safety Program.
This marks the ninth consecutive grading period in which Butler Memorial Hospital earned an “A” grade from Leapfrog, making it one of 16 hospitals in Pennsylvania to do so.
“We are proud of the staff and caregivers at Butler Memorial Hospital for this most recent accomplishment,” said Ken DeFurio, president and CEO of Independence Health System, of which BMH is a part.
Twice a year, Leapfrog assigns a grade to hospitals across the country based on 30 criteria, mostly related to how the hospital prevents unnecessary injuries, infections and other harm to its patients. The grades range from A to F.
