Butler man charged with assaulting hospital staff member
A Butler man was accused of scuffling with nursing staff at Butler Memorial Hospital, according to charges filed by Butler Township police.
Hugh R. Miller, 65, was charged Oct. 30 with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment following an incident in the urgent care facility on Oct. 9.
Police said Miller arrived at the urgent care and requested to be placed on detox. A physician assistant informed Miller they were unable to assist him, documents showed.
As the physician assistant explained the circumstances to Miller, police said Miller lunged at him and grabbed him by the shoulders. The two struggled, eventually moving into the hallway, and documents showed two other staff members then took Miller to the floor.
Police said Miller was then restrained to a bed.
The physician assistant was not injured, according to documents.
Miller’s preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 14 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
