It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tammie Alysse (Sikora) Sexton on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones, who are eternally grateful for having known her, despite her time on this Earth being far too short. Tammie truly embodied the spirit of a warrior, was fiercely loyal, a loving family member and friend, and a constant source of joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Tammie was born on June 21, 1987, to Kathy and Bob Sikora, a day that marked the beginning of a life filled with boundless determination and resilience, unwavering love, and dedication to her family and friends. She was one of four children: sisters, Kristy and Stacie (Luke), and brother, Stephen (Patience), all of whom shared a close bond and friendship.

She grew up in Carrick, attended St. Basil's Elementary School and Seton-LaSalle Catholic High School, and then went on to attend St. Francis University, earning a bachelor's degree in education.

Tammie started her teaching career in Maryland before returning home, taking a position with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, where she met her future husband and love of her life, Barry Sexton. In November 2022, she delivered a beautiful baby boy named Dominic James. Tammie's marriage was a true example of soul mates destined to love one another forever. Her commitment to and unconditional love for baby Dominic was incredible — a mother's love is a mother's love, but Tammie always went above and beyond. Their family of three was truly her life's purpose.

Throughout her life, Tammie built a large circle of friends. She was fiercely steadfast and loyal, unwaveringly dependable, and truly thoughtful and sincere, always willing to listen, yet unafraid to speak her mind. She had an uncanny ability to bring fun and laughter to everyday activities. A day with Tammie was the best day.

Tammie's memory is a reminder that life is a gift, to be cherished and celebrated, no matter the circumstances. Her strength, love and determined spirit will continue to inspire us to face life's challenges with grace. While we mourn the loss of an incredible soul, we also celebrate the life of a true warrior, a devoted family member and a constant source of joy. Tammie may have passed from this world, but her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts.

Tammie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Margaret Wolfe and Frank and Regina Sikora; her godfather and uncle, Jim Sikora; and her father-in-law, Barry Sexton Sr.

SEXTON — Visitation for Tammie Sexton, who died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, will be held from 2 p.m. until a celebration of Tammie's life at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at BORON FUNERAL HOME, 1719 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh. Funeral prayers will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by Liturgy of the Word at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Albert the Great Church, 3198 Schieck St., Pittsburgh. A private committal at St. John Vianney Cemetery to follow.

As an alternative to a donation of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Organization or the Hillman Cancer Center in memory of Tammie Sexton, to honor her legacy and contribute to the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
