Powell

Rex Powell, 64, of Chicora, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Rex was born in Butler, on June 24, 1959. He was the son of the late Richard and Delores Sanderson Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Laurie Ellenberger Powell, and their two amazing and loving children, Joshua Powell and his wife, Amie, and Brittany Stephenson and her husband, Aaron; five sweet and loving grandchildren, Abby and Aiden, and Jase, Tommy and Daisy; three brothers, Rick Powell and his wife, Gina, Don Powell and his wife, Sharon, and Doug Powell; a sister, Tammy Moore, and her husband, Jim; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rex is also survived by a team of loving nurses at 4 South at Butler Memorial Hospital, his greeters, Penny and Connie, who greeted him with a smile when he arrived at the hospital each day; and his visiting nurses, Amanda, Sabrina and Craig, who went above and beyond to care for all of his needs. Rex truly loved and appreciated them all.

POWELL — A private funeral service was held for the family of Rex Powell, who died Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, with longtime family friend and pastor, the Rev. Richard Jenks, officiating.
