W. Kirby Osborne
W. Kirby Osborne, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Canterbury Place in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.
Kirby was born in Grove City, on April 22, 1935, to James Wesley Osborne and Erma L. Wigton Osborne. He married Betty Jean Mackey in May of 1952, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2022.
Kirby was a self-employed truck driver and had worked for other trucking companies. During his career, he hauled concrete, milk, steel, chemicals and other commodities. He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on cars (doing body work and painting) and working in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with family, including previously spending time with wife Betty at their home in Florida.
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie S. Osborne of Bismarck, N.D., Vonnie J. (Leroy) Hogg of Slippery Rock and Valerie A. Osborne of Butler; brother, Floyd (Joan) Osborne of Butler; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Vanette R. Osborne; and brother, Roger.
OSBORNE — The family of W. Kirby Osborne, who died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. Saturday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Susan Moudry presiding.
Interment will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.
