Dorothy Hansotte
Dorothy Orton Hansotte, 94, of Butler, was welcomed home by those who have gone before her on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023.
She was born March 11, 1929, in Allegheny Township, Butler County. She was the first of four children born to the late Orville Orton and Violet (Johns) Orton.
She studied piano at a very young age and was pianist at the little country church she attended when she was 12 years old. She graduated with honors from the former Parker High School in 1946, after which she moved to Butler and graduated from the Maison Felix Academy of Beauty Culture. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for a number of years.
She married Robert Hansotte on April 26, 1947, and he died on June 7, 2001. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Tri-State Country Music Association, where she held the office of secretary for a number of years. She was also a lifetime member of the New Castle Country Music Association. Her first love was dancing. She also enjoyed camping, cards and bingo. She retired as manager of the F.W. Woolworth lunch counter with many years of service. Dorothy was also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Hansotte of New Castle; daughter, Tina (Walter) Dunkle of Butler; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, two brothers and a daughter-in-law.
HANSOTTE — Services and burial for Dorothy Orton Hansotte, who died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, will be private.
