Girl Scout Troop 16845 members were excited for their second-ever field trip Tuesday, Oct. 17, which quadrupled the number of places they have been to on trips with the troop.

They started at the Butler police station, followed by the fire station and ended their evening at Dunkin’ in Butler, where the 12 members celebrated Founder’s Day a bit early.

Founder’s Day is Oct. 31, which is the birthday of the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low, so the scouts in the troop wore pink to commemorate her and pay tribute to her eventual death from breast cancer.

Amanda Gibson, leader of Girl Scout Troop 16845, said the Daisy and Brownie members of the troop have enjoyed the group’s field trips so far.

“They are really excited that we are doing multiple events in one night,” Gibson said. “They are excited to be out in the community and not just our little church meeting place.”

The 12 members of the troop took a tour of the Butler police station and the fire station, where they learned about the jobs of police officers and firefighters.

Gibson added that while the troop is at capacity, interest has spurred the leaders to recruit an additional leader, so more children can join the organization.

“We can open the troop up for more girls,” Gibson said. “We have a lot of girls who want to come in but not enough leaders, so the leader is being trained now.”
