Dillaman

William M. “Bus” Dillaman, 98, of Ridgeville, passed away at his son’s home the morning of Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023.

Born on Oct. 17, 1924 in Coaltown, he was the son of the late William C. Dillaman and late Sarah H. (Barron) Dillaman.

He was a life member of the Ridgeville Methodist Church. He retired from U.S. Steel in Ellwood City and also retired from Mercer Limestone in Branchton. Bus was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He served in Co. K 86th Infantry Regiment Mountain Division stationed in the Apennine Mountains in Italy. He received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service to our country.

Bus is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (Rick) McCandless of Boyers; one son, Mark (Ruth Ann) Dillaman of Whiskerville; son-in-law, Robert Hays of Chicora; five grandchildren, Ryan (Erica) Hays, Casey (Brian) Hyatt, Sierra Dillaman (Tyler Rader), Justin Shoaf and Eric (Nikki) Shoaf; four great-grandchildren, Alysa Hyatt, Lyric Hays, Fallon Hays and Arianna Shoaf; one sister, Sara Cline, of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

Bus was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Edna” (Johnston); two daughters, Janice Dillaman and Sharon Hays; one grandson, Bradley McCandless; five sisters; and one brother.

The Dillaman family wishes to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Cindy, Sammy, Allison and Nicole; thanks to the Butler VA for their care especially nurse Amy Barnhart; and thanks to Brad and Ben Chutz for their time spent with him.

DILLAMAN — Family and friends of William M. “Bus” Dillaman, who died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, will be received for visitation from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart officiating.

Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery, Ridgeville, where military honors will be provided by Butler VFW Post 249, Lyndora American Legion Post 778, and Butler American Legion Post 117.
