Karen Bloom
Karen (Kay) Ann Bloom passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at the age of 80, in Bluffton, S.C. She was born on June 6, 1943, in Denver, Colo., to Harry and Margaret Ryder.
Kay graduated from high school in Denver and enrolled at Greeley State Teachers College where she met Carl. They married in 1963 and moved to Butler a few years later. Kay graduated from Slippery Rock University, with a degree in elementary and special education. Kay loved teaching and taught for 30 years. She loved going to the movies, listening to Elvis and good piano music, and having lunch with friends.
Kay is survived by two daughters, Barb Bloom and her husband Cliff Maier of Campbell, Calif. and Bonnie Rodgers and her husband Mark Rodgers of Bluffton S.C.; four grandchildren, Jonah Rodgers, Calvin Rodgers, Lucy Rodgers and Kaitlyn Maier; a sister, Marylyn Mortenson of Denver, Colo.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her older sister, and her husband of 53 years, Carl Bloom.
BLOOM — A memorial service for family and friends of Karen (Kay) Ann Bloom, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, will be held in the coming weeks in Butler.

Internment will take place in the North Side Cemetery.
