Mya Slomers, 19, of Butler, has been named one of two Butler County Community College students to receive a 2023 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise scholarship.

Slomers, who is a second-year nursing student in the BC3 registered nurse program, will receive $1,000.

The other recipient is Bailey Bevington, 19, of Worthington, who is a second-year psychology student at BC3 @ Armstrong in Ford City. Bevington, who also will receive $1,000, plans to become an adolescent therapist.

The scholarships are awarded to Phi Theta Kappa members based on academic achievement and leadership potential.

Slomers intends to transfer to Slippery Rock University and Bevington to Indiana University of Pennsylvania following their graduation from BC3.
