Lois Jean Graham

Graham

In the cherished memory of Lois Jean Graham, we remember a life well-lived. On Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at the age of 85, she departed this world at Rose Crest Assisted Living Lutheran SeniorLife in Mars.

Born on April 17, 1938, in Grove City, to her late parents, John Joseph and Helen Melissa (Moore) Painter, Lois Jean's journey was a testament to love, family and faith.

Her life’s chapters included graduating from Grove City High School and working for Five Filer Bros. However, the most profound chapter was her dedication to her beloved family. Lois Jean found comfort in her faith throughout her life. She attended Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City, and in recent years, she was a part of the welcoming community at Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.

Her love story with William A. “Bill” Graham was a tale of devotion that spanned 64 years, a love that continued even after Bill's passing on Sept. 17, 2022. As a mother, Lois Jean was the embodiment of love, raising three children, Mitchell A. (Karen) Graham, Michael G. Graham and Janene K. (David) DiSanti. She also cherished her brother, Edward J. (Virginia) Painter, and was a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Rachel, Aubrey, Melissa, Emily and Olivia. Lois Jean was the cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Lois Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Skye Graham; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor Jo and Charles “Rich” Scott; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kay and Larry “Joe” Cunningham and Barbara and Edward Royle.

Lois Jean found immense delight in the art of cooking, baking and creating everlasting memories with her loved ones during their annual journeys to Corolla, N.C. Bridge games with her card club ladies were filled with laughter and camaraderie, nurturing enduring friendships. On the greens of the Shamrock Golf Course, she showcased her passion for golf. Her artistic spirit found expression through her talent for drawing and painting. Her garden was a vibrant testament to her nurturing spirit and the artistry of her green thumb.

Yet, above all, Lois Jean's most cherished role was that of a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her love and care were boundless, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the rock upon which her family found strength and the heart that welcomed all with open arms.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Rose Crest Assisted Living, where Lois Jean spent her last 19 months, experiencing kindness and care in abundance.

GRAHAM — A private gathering for Lois Jean Graham, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, will be held at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer, with her final resting place to be at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Lutheran SeniorLife Foundation, 300 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, PA 16063, or at www.lutheranseniorlife.org/donate.

Lois Jean's memory, like her love, will endure for generations to come, leaving a profound legacy of love, kindness and unwavering devotion. Her presence was a gift to all, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
