The swinging bridge connecting the end of West Diamond Street and Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler is temporarily closed.
The site was vandalized, prompting city staff to close off the bridge with yellow tape earlier this week, according to Mayor Bob Dandoy.
“Vandalism has happened there before, kids pulling up boards, but this time, they did a pretty good job of it,” he said. “They ripped several up and underneath, we discovered rotting support boards.”
He said the steel on the bridge is not damaged.
The bridge is closed until repairs can be made, he said. He said bids on the repairs would be gathered, but could not estimate when it would reopen.
