Members of the Meridian Women’s Club were hard at work making handmade prizes for the group’s annual card party in October 1971.

Prizes at the annual card party included berets and other hats, cookware, potholders and other clothing. The event was scheduled to take place Oct. 23 at Pullman Supervisors Park, and it also would feature a luncheon.

Lang, chairwoman of the club’s ways and means committee, and Beck, co-chairwoman of the club, planned the party.

Proceeds from the card party would benefit the women’s club’s philanthropic work in the community.
