Joan Muir
Joan A. Muir, 63, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at her son's residence.
Joan was born on May 29, 1960, in Butler, to James "Duffy" Arthur Womeldorf and the late Judith LaVonne Downing Womeldorf.
She graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1978 and then Clarion State College, which became Clarion University. She was a prison guard at Butler County Prison, retiring in 2021. Joan was an excellent piano player, playing locally in bands The New Era and Bittersweet with her husband. She loved listening to music, spending time with her husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, sister, nieces, father and his wife, Gerry.
Joan is survived by Garrett (Stephanie) Muir of New Stanton, Pa.; two grandchildren, Sawyer Muir and Hudson Muir; her father, who affectionately called her "Chat," James "Duffy" Arthur (Geraldine) Womeldorf of Clarion; one sister, Julee (Mark) Hamel of Parrish, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Carol Manning of Branson, Mo.; four nieces, Stephanie Bullock, Lindsay Prichard, Kayla Langenkamp and Kathy Bennett; and one nephew, Mike Gormely.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randy William Muir, whom she married on June 15, 1984, and who passed away on Jan. 30, 2022; and one nephew, Robert Gormerly.
MUIR — Friends of Joan A. Muir, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, are invited to a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
