Born in Greenville, Pa., on March 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Marguerite Mook Flasher.

At the age of 17, she met her future husband, Edward R. Choura at a bowling alley in Evans City, where her father had taken her. She married him at the age of 23 and they were married for 53 years before his death on Sept. 27, 2003. Bowling was a big part of Emma and Eddie's life and they traveled all over the country in bowling tournaments. She was inducted into the Greater Pittsburgh Bowling Hall of Fame at 59 years old in 1986. She had averaged 180 or better for 15 years. She bowled in leagues at Mars Lanes until retiring last year at the age of 95.

She loved all animals and took in many strays. She especially loved her dogs, cats and, at one time, eight horses.

She was a member of the Valencia United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Linda Jay, of Florida, Lisa Flasher (Alan Sheffield), of North Carolina, Vaughn Flasher (Kim), of Westerville, Ohio, and Susan Stamm (Steve), of Mercer; her niece-in-law, Laura Gold, of Mars; a sister-in-law, Judy Flasher, of Mercer; and many cousins and other extended family and friends.
