Caroline “Clare” (nee Cobane) Green, 58, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023.

She was born in Tyrone, Ireland, on Feb. 7, 1965, to the late Charlie and Nellie (Irwin) Cobane.

Clare graduated from the University of Ulster, Coleraine, in 1986. She started her nursing career in the greater Belfast Trust before immigrating to America, where she completed her master’s degree and worked in Philadelphia at the Albert Einstein Memorial Hospital. It was after this Clare relocated to Butler to be close to relatives, where she continued her nursing career. Clare had a long and dedicated career spanning over two decades in the shadow of the original Florence Nightingale.

Clare had many hobbies but her true passion in life was her family. She thrived on helping others. Her demeanor was soft, gentle and kind, her smile was beautiful and her laughter was contagious. To know Clare was to love Clare. She was known for being a devoted and great aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Clare was the beloved wife of Jeffery Green since their marriage on July 25, 1998; sister of Roy (Agnes) Cobane, Irwin Cobane, Ronnie (Myrtle) Cobane, Dora (Fred) McCoy, Jean Maxwell, Maureen (William) Wright, Jimmy (Carol) Cobane, Davey (Roisin) Cobane and Jill McFarland; daughter-in-law of Pearl Green; in-law of Joyce (Robert) Geibel, Cheryl (Mickey) Weiland, Beverly (Richard) Williams, Ronald (Debbie) Green, Rita Markilinski, Charles Green, Rose (Sam) Graham, William Green, Mary (Rich) Hohn, Carl (Sheila) Green, Thomas (Susan) Green and Stephen (Tammy) Green.

Clare was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph; and her father-in-law, Charles Green.

GREEN — Family and friends of Caroline “Clare” Green, who died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
