Mary Fetterly Jarrett, 95, of Zelienople, formerly of Rochester, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.

Born Dec. 5, 1927, in Ambridge, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Bernard and Ruth E. Toy Fetterly.

She was a graduate of Rochester High School and Wittenberg University, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in music and education. She was a retired organist with Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Brighton, a retired Rochester Elementary School teacher and taught piano and organ privately. In her retirement, she became a Penn State Master Gardener and shared her love of flowers with the other residents at Passavant Retirement Community. She was most recently a member of Seaman Memorial Chapel, Zelienople.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Jarrett, in 2014. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. Walter P. Fetterly and George Fetterly; and one sister, Martha J. Fetterly.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Sumiejski (James) of Mentor, Ohio; a son, David R. Jarrett of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Laura Sumiejski Halvorson (Tristan) of Kirkland, Wash.; a grandson, Bradley Sumiejski of Mentor, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Thea Halvorson of Kirkland, Wash.

JARRETT — Friends of Mary Fetterly Jarrett, who died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, with services following at 1:15 p.m., with the Rev. Susie Essex, assisted by the Rev. Freda Snyder of the Seaman Memorial Chapel, to officiate. Interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

Arrangements are in the care of WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 349 Adams St., Rochester, Pa.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Passavant Benevolent Fund/LAS Foundation, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063.
