Butler musicians featured in singer-songwriter showcase
Four singer-songwriters from Butler are joining forces for one show.
Butler musicians Tom Pappas, Brad Green, Nate Renwick and Zach Manuel will headline the Butler Singer/Songwriter Showcase on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale.
“It’d be cool if more of these happen,” Pappas said. “There’s a ton of really great songwriters in Butler. It’d be nice to see a spotlight on them.”
The four are no strangers to each other, as they frequently run into each other while touring across the Butler area. In fact, the same group of four played a show last year at the Butler Little Theatre on Howard Street.
Pappas and Green once played together in high school in a band known as Blue Light. Green was also involved with a band called Welcome to Earth, until he decided to split from the band and become a solo artist.
“My music style is normally kind of like a rock alternative thing, but when I play out to crowds, I try and play a little something for everyone,” Green said.
Pappas has been involved in music since he was 10 years old and has been playing publicly since 2009. He released his first album, “Daydream,” in 2015, and released another album, “If I Were Golden,” this May. When he isn’t playing music, Pappas works for Keystone Electrical Supply in Butler.
Music is also a side gig for Green, who works as a nurse educator at Butler Memorial Hospital.
“(Music is) not a full-time profession,” said Green. “It’s kind of like a fun side gig.”
General admission tickets for the Butler Singer/Songwriter Showcase are $10, with early entry tickets costing $15 each. The show starts at 7 p.m., with the gates opening at 5 p.m. for early entry ticket-holders and at 6 p.m. for general admission ticket-holders. This event is restricted to those age 21 and older.
