Zelienople Area Public Library to host heritage art night

Zelienople Public Library will host a “Statue of Liberty Art Night” on Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the Curio Art Gallery and Studio at 113 N. Main St.

The art night is the result of the library’s new partnership with WETA and PBS Books’ new 8-part documentary series “Iconic America: Our Symbols and Stories with David Rubenstein.”

Beginning at 6 p.m., participants will watch a clip from the fifth episode in the series — “The Statue of Liberty” — and create their own Statue of Liberty on canvas.

Materials and instruction for the event will be covered by a grant from WETA, and the library will be collaborating with the Evans City Public Library to present its own program on the sixth episode: “The American Bald Eagle.”

Adults, teens and children over 8 years old are invited to register for the “Statue of Liberty Art Night.” There is no cost to participate, but registration will be limited to 12 people.

Links to register can be found at, the library’s Facebook page or by calling 724-452-9330.
