Bednar nominated for Clemente Award
PITTSBURGH — Mars graduate and Pittsburgh Pirate relief pitcher David Bednar is the Bucs’ Roberto Clemente Award nominee for the second successive year.
The Clemente Award is given to a major leaguer who shows high character, community involvement and positive results on and off the field.
Bednar, 28, is 3-2 with a 1.98 earned run average this season, 66 strikeouts and 16 walks in 9 innings pitched. He has 33 saves.
